What is the world is a pareo?? And how do you pronounce it??

Of Tahitian origin and made famous by Paul Gauguin's models, a pareo (also spelled pareu)
is a light-weight, filmy rectangle of colorful fabric used as a beach cover-up,
as a fashion accessory or as a garment all by itself and, in Polynesia,
is frequently worn by men as well as by women.
Also known as a sarong, longyi, pasin, lavalava (Samoa),
sulu (Fiji), kain (Indonesia) or pakome (Thailand)

Pareo is pronounced as par-E'-o with a long hard E or as pa-rA'-o with a long hard A.

A single pareo makes a dress, skirt, playsuit, harem pants or shawl.
Use it as a colorful ensemble accent, as a scarf or as a wall hanging.
Drape it over a lamp or window for sensuous mood lighting.

Be as sensible as you like or as sensuous as you dare.
Wear your pareo to the beach, sailing, shopping, entertaining or out for the evening.
Each pareo comes with an illustrated guidebook showing various modes of use.
Wear it over a swimsuit or - if you dare - wear it over nothing at all!!!
