The
idea for CABANA TO GO was conceived and born
in 1995 at beautiful Dawn Beach on the French
island of St. Martin (home of the famous and
fabulous Orient Beach) shortly after the infamous
hurricanes Luis and Marilyn. The beautiful palm
trees were gone and the resort was destroyed,
resulting in no shade at all - but there was great
privacy.
While
strolling and swimming in splendid isolation on
this magnificent beach, we soon found that we were
slowly frying in the relentless sun. I wandered
into the ruined resort in search of shade and found
a gauzy white curtain. Using four broken tree
branches and some nylon line, I rigged a make-shift
shelter to give us a little shade- it looked
terrible, but it worked.
Returning
home, I worked on designing an improvement of this
makeshift shelter. After many self-manufactured
prototypes, I finally settled on the current
design. Finding wholesalers to supply quality
materials, I decided to offer CABANA TO GO
commercially at the current reasonable price (think
you can make your own cheaper?? - click on Mr Sun

And in
September of 1997 we returned to Dawn Beach in St.
Martin to test and photograph the new and larger
version, CABANA68 TO GO , and we
LOVED IT. More shade and more choices of
configuration including the Private Cabana. Please
